Biography

With a keen eye, Tony Elliott developed his taste for depicting the quirks of the world at a youthful age. A skill that was later put to good use while earning his BFA at the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Northern Illinois University. It was there he became fascinated with, and studied, medical and scientific illustration, as well as, taking on occasional jobs illustrating the internal workings of human anatomy.

Doing so allowed him to sharpen his skills and granted him entry into other fields of design. After graduation he relocated to take a position as an illustrator/designer at an advertising agency where he developed materials and brands for clients across the nation. During these years he passionately refined his artistic vision to create his unique style. Meanwhile creating work for, and assisting, respected names such as Bausch and Lomb and Harvard University.

Straddling the elusive boundaries between mainstream and the obscure, his work could be considered a study of balance. His approach seamlessly weaves elements of collage; pulp, pop art and fluid line work over color combinations bent on maintaining a delicate harmony of polish and crudity. Add in a slightly skewed sense of 3-D, closer to that of a View-Master than that of world we live in, and you may have a fair description of his narrative style.
